Day 1: Southern Utah to Grand Junction
We kicked off our road trip from Southern Utah, excitement bubbling in the car as we loaded up our pups. They were ready to hit the road, and so were we! Our first stop? Grand Junction.
Once we arrived, we made a beeline for Hot Tomato Cafe. This place is a slice of heaven (literally)! We devoured some of the best pizza by the slice. The casual vibe and outdoor seating were perfect for our pups to join us while we enjoyed our delicious meal. Honestly, if you’re ever in the area, you HAVE to stop here.
After lunch, we explored the Grand Junction Farmers Market. This vibrant market is a feast for the senses! We wandered through rows of colorful produce, homemade goodies, and local crafts. Our dogs were thrilled to be part of the action, and we loved watching them sniff out all the new smells. We picked up some fresh snacks for later and enjoyed the lively atmosphere.
After a full day of travel and fun, we checked into Balanced Rock Inn. This dog-friendly spot was the perfect retreat after a busy day. The cozy rooms were just what we needed to recharge. Our pups curled up and promptly fell asleep, and we couldn’t blame them—so much adventure in one day!
Day 2: Grand Junction to Vail
We started our second day with a hearty breakfast at Main Street Bagels. Fresh bagels and steaming coffee hit the spot and fueled us for another day of adventure. Watching the dogs wag their tails as they enjoyed their morning walk was the perfect start to the day.
Next up, we hit the road towards Vail. The drive was breathtaking, with sweeping views of the mountains. The pups were happily nestled in the backseat, soaking in all the scenery through the windows.
Arriving in Vail was like stepping into a postcard. The Oktoberfest festivities were in full swing, and the village was buzzing with excitement! We strolled through the charming streets, sampling delicious German food and soaking up the festive atmosphere. Our dogs loved the attention from passersby, and we enjoyed the live music that filled the air.
On our way to Denver, we couldn’t resist making a stop in Breckenridge. We explored the quaint shops and beautiful scenery, letting the pups stretch their legs. It was a perfect pit stop before our final destination.
We finally arrived at the Magnolia Hotel, where we were thrilled to find ourselves in the luxurious Presidential Suite. With two bedrooms, a full kitchen, and stunning views, it was a dog-friendly dream come true. The pups immediately claimed their spots and made themselves at home.
Day 3: Exploring Denver
Our adventure in Denver began with a visit to a nearby farmers market in a lovely park. With sunshine overhead and the pups by our sides, we browsed local vendors, picking up fresh produce and artisanal goodies. It was a delightful morning filled with laughter and fresh air.
After the market, we headed to the river under the bridge in downtown Denver. It’s hard to believe how close we were to the city while feeling completely immersed in nature! The pups had a blast splashing around in the water, and we loved the picturesque views all around us.
As evening approached, we made our way to Daughter Thai for dinner. Oh my goodness, I had the best Chicken Pad See Moa! The flat rice noodles stir-fried with egg, broccoli, red bell peppers, and chili were so flavorful that I’ll be craving it for weeks. Dalan tried the Volcanic Beef, which was equally delicious. We were in foodie heaven! To top it off, we enjoyed a fantastic show by a group of talented Thai teens, mixing modern songs with traditional Thai sounds. It was the perfect cultural experience to end the day.
Back at the Magnolia Hotel, we were welcomed with complimentary cookies in the lobby—always a nice touch! And don’t forget the dog bones for our pups, who were very happy to indulge in their treats as well.
Day 4: Return Trip
As we made our way home, we had to stop in Breckenridge again to visit the infamous Breckenridge Troll. It’s much larger than you’d expect, and we had a blast taking photos and letting the dogs explore the area.
Next, we headed back to Vail for one last stroll through the Oktoberfest festivities. The lively atmosphere and delicious food were too good to resist!
Finally, we started our drive home, making sure to stop along the way for Tesla charging and to let our pups stretch their legs. We reminisced about our amazing journey through Colorado, and our hearts were full of cherished memories.
Our dog-friendly road trip to Colorado was an incredible adventure filled with great food, beautiful scenery, and so much love from our furry friends. We can’t wait for our next adventure—who knows where the road will take us next!
